Shares of Home Depot Inc. ended at a seven-month low Tuesday after the home-improvement retail giant missed fiscal third-quarter profit expectations and provided a downbeat outlook, saying a lower-than-usual number of big storms reduced the need for home projects.
The company HD+3.29% said that while demand was relatively stable throughout the quarter, it was expected to increase as the quarter progressed. The results also come as the housing market has been under duress amid continued affordability issues and increasing consumer concerns about the economy.
